It actually runs ok but is really down on power and pops quite a bit even at idle.

Today i took all the fairings off and took the plug leads off with the engine running one by one and it made no difference at all.
There is a good spark to all plugs, and the plugs are brand new( I fitted them about 1 week ago)

I know the radiator fan wasn't working when i got the bike,so is there any chance if the engine has been cooked by a previous owner it could cause a miss on the engine?

Is there anything in particular i should be checking for next? (other than the compression test which will be done tomorrow)

Thanks
Dave.

Pull out the easy to reach sparkplugs from each cylinder. I'll bet one or both is sooty black, sign of a sticky choke mechanism.

Which part of the choke mechanism can be sticky?
I ask because i also renewed the choke cables, and they just attach to a needle which moves in and out of the carb.
