Only in America can people be so fucking thick. They arrest a quadroplegic man for a traffic offence - A bloody traffic offence for fuck's sake, and then get pissed off when he can't stand up! What the fuck are these people on!? How fucking thick do you really need to be to understand that a quadroplegic person can neither drive a car or stand up!?

Edit: It says in the article that he can drive? How the hell can he drive? it states that he doesn't have full use of his arms, and he clearly can't use his legs.

Why was he arrested?

Because of previous traffic violations.

I am sorry but what would anyone expect if you don't respect the law.....

And it says he cant walk but can drive.

Maybe you should watch the vid walloper. Dosnt matter what he said he dosnt deserve to be dumped out of a chair like that. I am sure the police could have restrained themselves a bit more. They also didnt think how that would look on camera either even if they have some sort of backup story, which would be interesting to hear.

Ahhh! Dawning comprehension - shame we had to 'Nuke America' before we gained enlightenment.

I guess that 'full use of the arms' means that he doesn't have much strength/full movement in them, but is able to drive an adapted vehicle with power steering - you've probably seen similar little pope-mobile things chuntering around our streets too.

I'm broadly in agreement with Walloper (for once) - while the behaviour is unjustifiable, it must have some explanation; whether that be the rozzer having a bad day, or the perp mouthing off like a good 'un - something must have happened to make the deputies forget both themselves and the Custody Suite CCTV.

I saw this when the story broke in the US.

The policewoman didn't believe he was a quadraplegic, so upturned him to 'prove it', dumping him on the ground breaking his ribs. Meanwhile another officer laughs.

There is no excuse here, regardless. Thumbs Down

I thought you meant you couldnt watch it for some weird reason not that it didnt work on the computer. My bad? Laughing Dam its Sunday after all its a day of rest for my brain. Anyway still not right even though he broke the law in some way. Wonder what way they would have treated a full able man if the done that to a wheel chair bound guy.

If you look more closely at the video evidence it CLEARLY shows the guy in the chair asking the police officer to help him out of the wheelchair.
She argues with him that he will land on the floor, but the guy insists.....

Why will her career be finished?

Indeed - which is why I said it was unjustifiable (you know, the bit you trimmed off from my quote).

I merely pointed out that there must be an explanation for the cops to do something so obviously beyond the pale. Judging by what a few other people here have thrown up, it seems clear that there is.

I should have been clearer. I think in cases such as this there is a point you reach where the act is so callous to a victim so helpless, that it defies any explanation as to rationalise the behaviour.

A while ago, in another police station is the US, a man with no use of his legs was strung up by his ankles and dangled upside down in a cell, in order for officers to carry out a 'pat down'. Their excuse? In the manual it says the subject must be vertical. Rolling Eyes
