Just been riding back from my girlfriends, didn't realise it was going to be icy as hell (It is around Warrington, anyway)... Had the back end step out *at speed* and I came very very close to having an off in jeans. Got a bit too cocky and just assumed the weather would be alright, although thinking back about it now I missed lots of clues such as parts of the road surface being shiny, and me being freezing cold before I got out of the house.

Don't be like me and get complacent, it could've gotten very nasty for me tonight.

Jesus

Aye, if the ice doesn't get you, the crushed (and powdery) salt will.

Laughing i did that yesterday, came out of a road and just gave it a fist full of throttle... in hindsight, i had cold tyres, it was cold out, and a little misty, that and i didnt know a little cbr had the power to whip the back end round.
woke me up a bit Laughing

i had a similar thing yesterday, rode to a bike shop to get some 'slime', was only in 5 minutes so yres would still be warm ish and i jumped on the bike, got the edge of the carpark, one van coming but miles away so i pulled out - shifted into 2nd as i left the carpark and pulled the throttle, back end spun around and the top flew from side to side, almost got thrown off in a high side but managed to keep everything together and the bike upright,

be carefull at all times!

Ace Biker PM'd me, apparently the correct response to the back losing traction is to "kick the c**t down a gear and smash the f**king bars right over"

It's February!

That's all I can say over and over when I read this thread.

What Scouse said.

The daytime weather at the moment is sunny and mild for the time of year, but as soon as that sun goes in it's still Feb and you should be expecting ice, snow, salt, mud, gravel, shit etc etc on the roads.

Can't stress it enough.

Ride, but ride more carefully than you usually would. This doesn't make you a wuss, it means you will be more likely to be able to ride again tomorrow.

Meh, feel shitty about it anyway, I like cats, kudos to the guy who came out to see if I was alright and went round to his neighbours to see if it was their cat.

Turns out it's more than likely a feral one, but still, feel shite.

Cats can travel a mile or more from their home each day so it could be anyone's in that area.

Yeah it's the middle of nowhere mate we spent a good half an hour round houses and they all said the same thing - they're feral.

I'm going through there on the way back so I will make sure it's definately dead and maybe move it a bit more out of sight as there's kids around there.
