It was a while ago that I noticed some bike police on crosser type bikes in Stockport attending a car crash out side my house.

They were on white crossers, I don't know what sort, but they were wearing sandy/khaki coloured textiles, with the tiniest little bit of their lids saying Police, the lids were crosser style as well.

I thought these sort of police bikes were used for the countryside not in built up areas.

Does anybody else have them?

Probably only there coz there's no other bobbies around to attend, due to all the paperwork they're having to fill in! Rolling Eyes

I'm from Southend and I have never seen or heard of them there either, I thought they were reserved for Devon and Dorset way really.

Was just shocked to see them here cos it really is built up where I live.

it is rare to have them in places like southend. If there is a problem with kids on crossers on wasteland they can be drafted in to patrol problem areas too.

Cleveland Police, have a number of bikes, inc Buells, R1s and off road ones

the Buell was cool as feck, fully marked up if you can say that as there is no way you would easily identify it as a cop if in motion.

oh and of course they have the usual big bikes they use.

Can you imagine getting paid to ride sports bikes all day?

As well as being able to get away with bashing spraying and nicking people. What a Job, I might apply to the police methinks.

somerset cops have smashed many of them while playing up on the Quantocks, They keep getting slapped wrists but still do it. I think they joined up to have off road fun. They are a good bunch of lads you would never know they were cops. Unless you are being stupid

We have them here in sunny Hemel Hempstead ('Emul) on DRZs. They are used mainly to nick the local scrotes riding illegally on mini-motos, crossers and the like, especially around the Grovehill area which is a bit of a haven for scum.
Newspaper article here
Short video here (ignore the YouTube comments, this was originally from the same local rag website as the article above, but the article with the video link was down, so i found it on YouTube instead)

Frankly i'd welcome them outside my house (thankfully not in Grovehill) as the local toerags have once again taken to razzing mini-motos etc up and down the alleyway by my house (where my kids used to be able to safely play with the other local kids). Nearly ran one of the toerags over the other day in my car, as he decided it wasn't neccesary to look before riding across the road whilst 2-up on a mini-moto.
Think i shall be breaking out the cheesewire if it continues.....

York have some 250/400 Yamaha off road crossers. Cumbria also has those Impreza WRX STi's, that's what caught me last July.

The ones around here are armed. About 3 years back I was hooning along & saw 3 dirtbikes ahead of me so decided to pass them at Warp Factor Stupid....

I was just a tad too close & going just a tad fast when I spotted the "Sheriff" on the back of their body armour.... Shocked too late to slow down so I just kept it pegged Cool ..Looked in my mirror & saw all three look at each other & just knew they were having the "WTF was that idiot thinking Confused ???" conversation....

One of the local bike dealers is also a Sheriff... I heard all about it next time I dropped by for a couple of oil filters... Rolling Eyes I denied everything with a "huh? There's no way my bike goes that fast, it's completely stock!" Wink cough...

Ones down manchester on the DRZ's are cocks.

Pulled me over for speeding (yes i admit i was in the wrong) so he asks me to pull over. I tried to go alittle bit further down the road as there was a bus stop and i didnt really want to park in that. He must of thought i was doing a runner and he proceded to try and kick me off.

I spoke to a police man in essex on a marked DRZ400, for some reason he was sitting outside a london underground station Confused Anyway i asked him why he had a DRZ and not one of the normal bikes and he said that basicly if somebody steals a motorcross bike and takes it off road the cars cant follow and the helicopter can only do so much and stay in the air for a limited amount of time, so he gets the job of chasing the nicked bikes, sounds like alot of fun to me!

The local bobbie my village goes round on a DRZ I think, pull me over for erratic driving on my moped, the others just seem to go around on the standard police bikes.
