i have a 2000 r6 with a scorpion end can. i am keen to stubby it as i have a scratch in the carbon that covers about the last 5" near the tail pipe (and it looks good). if i take off about 7"-8" will it affect the engine in any negative way, will it make the bike much louder and can anyone give me any pointers as to how to do it without buggering up the can.

thanks in advance for any help.
Thumbs Up

Definitely louder.

You need to be careful when cutting the carbon, nice and steady with a fine tooth sawblade to stop it splintering.

... and its a good idea to wind a good few turns of masking tape round it first and cut through the can and tape as it helps stop the saw flicking the edge of the carbon out....

It can seriously effect fueling making the can short, so you might need to sort the fueling out if its a carb model... but its not 100% as some are fine, others develop a stutter... its all luck.

+1 with the masking tape. Use a really fine tooth saw like a jewlers saw. Will take ages, but on carbon its worth it.

Keep us posted Thumbs Up
