Well not quite... but it does have an air cleaner.

Just been poking through my new manual and come across the diagram locating the parts and 25 is an 'Air Cleaner'.

Its right side and is pointing to the very base of the tank about 2 inches in front of the seat. Dont have the bike till sunday (Come on good weather) so not found out if anything is actually there.

Did a quick google and didnt really come up with anything fruitful, what is it and (at the risk of sounding dumb with 'cleans air') what does it do?

No difference as far as I know. I actually typed air cleaner in to wikipedia (the site I linked you to) and it came up with that.

I think it's just an american or japanese term.

I was looking through my NTV's haynes a while ago and noticed it's "secondary air system" which sticks air from your airbox into the exhaust gasses to clean em up, might be the same thing?

That IS to do with emissions. Also known as a PAIR system. It oxidises some of the nasties (NOx's?) in the exhaust gases to harmless stuff.

Hmm I was looking through my CBR workoshop manual and followed the arrows around in airflow and wondered why the secondary airfilter led to the zorst system, so in effect the Pair system cleans up the zorst fumes by cheating ie mixing the fumes with air so that although there is a greater volume of exhaust it has fewer PPM of the nasty stuff?

I think that's about the size and shape of it yes, as far as I understand it. Although I think the oxygen in the air does combine with some of the nasties in the exhaust.....

Big_Ham is almost right although it won't be to reduce NOx, it'll be to help unburnt fuel in the exhaust gasses to burn.
