I ride an Aprilia RS 50 2007 model and with my test approaching I've decided to start practicing u-turns (and getting back into the habit of the bloody Life savers Mad )

Anyway after reading a helpful thread on here before advising you to look where you wanna end up I went down to a private road in an industrial estate and tried it out, firstly how I'd normally do it then again with concentrating on clutch control and keeping my head fixed on my target position.

IT WORKS VERY WELL! Anyone worried try it, it's like kd in the respect once you surpass that point where you're past your normal "comfort" point, you force yourself, and so get your heart to follow where your brain wants to go and crack it.

Thought I'd share it with you, its no myth its the truth. Cheers BCF, and if I can do it on my rs then I'm hoping a CG 125 should be a doddle (he says now Wink ) Thumbs Up Mr. Green

If you can do it on an RS50 (which if its anything like the 125 will have a tight steering lock), then you will walk it with a CG125.

I did my test on an SR125 and that thing could turn in half of a lane if you asked it nicely Wink.

But yeh you are right with the look at where you wanna be and the bike will do the rest.

I also believe you can get off and walk it around on the test as they don't specify, a mate of mine did it...

I've been told a foot down is a fail, so how would 20 steps fair out Neutral

I suppose that may be because you have a choice as to which way you do it, both methods require control its just that riding it round requires more.... yet both need to be of the same standard?

Someone want to clarify this for me... im just making a logical deduction.

On your test, the examiner will have you pull up at side of the road, turn engine off. Will then be told to get off the bike and to push it round then ride it back.
Lifesaver before you start to push it round, and keep the front brake covered. After pushing it round, get back on the bike start engine mirrors lifesaver ride back round.
Yea a foot down is a fail, my sisters boyfriend failed on that.
Just keep revs high and slip the clutch, look where you want to end up and use back brake to control speed, dont adjust revs/clutch.

I was just told to perform a U-turn under the bikes power, and to continue down the road then make a left at the junction.

I had to check with him that he didn't want me to walk it cause I was puzzled Laughing.

I found that even though i was looking where i wanted to go i still put my foot down. This is because i was looking at the curb, try to keep your chin up when looking round. I used either a sign or instuctors head to keep my chin up. the moment your head drops the bikes seems to get dragged down.

Thats really quite wierd, did he follow you after you turned left? I think the majority of the time thats what happens anyway, like normal but then they can change routes ect at any time they wish.
