Hi all,

Well recently there has been a a 1995 red Suzuki outside in my carpark in a state that would be best described as dumped. It has no number plate but still has a tax disc. I took the REG off the tax disc (tax out of date 10/07). and done one of those direct gov checks. It says its unlienced etc.

I checked the ignition and it looks like its been started with a scew driver.

What to do. Its been in the same position for a couple of weeks now. Shall i call the police and see what they can do (they wont be really bothered) or shall i do what i really want to do and take it home and make it run again. restore it to like it once was?

Thanks all Thumbs Up

i would try and find out who the owner is.. dunno how easy that is to do with just the number plate. i dare say they probably would be quite happy to get a call from you telling them where their bike is.
if you were to take it and fix it and change the papers over, you might find one day that someone might see it and want it back,, or give you a punch in the mouth thinking that you stole from them Very Happy

Er. . . . I think they will, its obviously a stolen bike and was once someone's pride and joy. If you were to take it without asking the police first and it has been reported stolen you are handling stolen goods. Try explaining that you didn't nick it when your pulled over.

Any idea about how to find the owners number from using the number plate? I know how much it would mean to me if someone stole my bike and i got it back.

Get the owner's details and contact them directly and ask them whether they would like you to notify the police. If the police recover it, the owner will incurr a large recovery fee, and if they haven't claimed for the theft then they will have to pay out of their own pocket.

contact the DVLA and tell them it's on your land and you need to contact the owner to shift it/issue a fine or whatever.
