Is raw mince bad for you?

Now I know its probably not good for you but is it particularly bad?

I cooked myself a home made burger last night with half a pack of mince, so about 300 grams, when I bit into it there were some pink juices which I didn't mind as I love red meat.

Then there were some red juices which I didn't mind cos I quite like blood.

Then there was raw mince in the middle which I sort of minded because it was proper raw, so after realising that I didn't really like it, I left half of the raw stuff and ploughed my way through the burger.

Today I have a rather dodgy stomach, I did put chili puree and chili flakes in it as well like, so I am just trying to work out if its the chili or the raw meat making my stomach hurt and my poo runny.

If you had food poisoning you would know about it.

Raw red meat isn't good for you, especially mince.

The only reason you can eat a steak rare is because bacteria will only have ever existed on the outside of the steak, so cooking this will destroy the bacteria.

The same can not be said for mince.

Make the mince yourself and you can have it as pink as you like.

In all reality a bit of pink from some mince bought fresh isn't a problem, usually the meat used is reasonable quality, and you have probably heated enough to kill most if not all the bacteria. We regularly serve burgers made from our own mince if customers ask for it, which they do.
