Well I've noticed the winter is taking its toll on my little XR125, what was once a fine shiny bike is now still very fine but slowly becoming dirty, slightly rusting on the wheel rims and starting to pitt on the forks. Confused Not bad for a 3/4 yr old bike I guess...

So after several searches I've come across this 'ACF-50' stuff which sounds exactly what I'm after! So do you use it? If so how much do you pay for it and is it easy to put on?
Also, does it matter if I apply it when the bike is still wet?

Thumbs Up

If the pitting has started on the forks its already too late. ACF will prevent more but wont do anything for the damage already done.

The pitting isn't too bad yet, a clean up will improve it and preventing any more damage is the best thing I can do at this stage...

Does it matter if the AFC stuff gets on mirrors?

My XR125L is covered in ACF-50 and it has certainly kept corrosion at bay so far with the exception of the exhaust which just burns it off. If you are spraying it on the front wheel, cover the disk and caliper before you start or you'll have no brakes. It shouldn't damage the mirrors if you wipe it off - can't quite see how it gets on them though!!

I've recently started using ACF50. Paid around £12 for it i think. I mainly use it on the down pipes and exhaust, but maybe it does get burnt off like teabag said.

It seems like good stuff, but i don't really know how long i should leave it before cleaning my bike again and reapplying it.

Beanfeast, surely your xr has fork gaiters?if not replace the seals and fit em Surprised acf 50 splodges out of can you have to apply it via a rag soaked in it ,im still out on this one Neutral seems no better than wd40 but 4 times the price

Hmm interesting, thing is I've cleaned the bike previously with WD40 which worked really well but it didn't seem to leave any protective layer as the forks continued to pitt...

And nope, no gaiters! To be honest I don't really like the look of them, and the seals are fine so won't need replacing yet?
