As I want to get riding a big bike by the summer. I'm thinking about booking a CBT and a load of lessons in one go over Easter (as I'm having fun getting my paper license from my house in Gloucestershire to uni, damn anti- bike mother), and my theory. I won't actually be able to book a test until I've done the theory (and I wouldn't want to in case I failed the theory) so I- probably- wouldn't do the test over Easter, but would book a few hours of refresher lessons and book my test for when I'm back down here after Easter.

Is this a.) a really silly idea and I should wait for summer, or b.) fairly sensible? And b.) any ideas on how much it would cost?

Cheers folks Thumbs Up

From what I've seen bike courses tend to be 'intensive' over a shorter period, unlike learning to drive a car which seems to be usually stretched over as many years as possible.

I took my DAS end of November last year, 5 days spread over two weeks, passed first time and cost £500.

Nothing stopping you grabbing your licence when you are home, booking your theory (which can involve a wait at some test centres) and then having two or three hours with an instructor a week for a month and then doing your test.

Especially as you have yuor own bike to go and practise on.

If I do... wanna buy my CG Matt?

I'll have to sell that to pay for it, then the landy (which will be eBayed when I go home) to pay for the GS550 I've got lined up, which is the main reason I want to get my full test fairly soon. He'll hold on to it for a few months but wants it gone by summer really I think.

Meh. Money!

Not really- I only bought it to run for a few months and do my test on. Want what I paid- £300. If not I'll run it for a bit and just do what Kal suggested above, probably with a couple of day lessons over easter and a few more when i'm back down here.
