Hi,
i got stopped by the traffic nazis, day after i fitted my single line plate,
sirens, flashing lights, on dual carriageway, at rush hour,
the shame!
said theyd seen me on cctv?
told me to change it before i rode it again or they would take it off me - the bike that is!
("impound it for inspection")
must add, the guy was a bit of a tit!
other officer in car looked a bit embarressed, lol
waste of 8 quid!
cheers,
GAZ

£30 and a rectification notice to get it taken to your MOT test centre to confirm the stock plate is back on.

No points.

If you get caught too many times they can take the number from the bike and make you Q plate it.

Although I rode through France, Belgium and Holland with my single line plate under the grab strap of my GSXR400 with no issues at all. Laughing

9 x 7

Any smaller is illegal.

You have to have the correct font size along with the correct gaps around the font. This leaves you with the 9 x 7 plate.

I imagine you can have a single line plate, so long as it's legally spaced. I just cant see many people wanting to stick a car- sized single line plate across the back of their bike! It'd also mean you'd need two number plate lights etc; I doubt it's illegal, it'd just be bloody daft.

No you cant. Bike plates have to be 2 lines to be legal. or 3 depending on when they where registered.

Source = DVLA
Quote:
Motorcycles registered on or after 1 September 2001 must display a two-line numberplate number plate. Motorcycles registered prior to the 1 September 2001 may display athree-line plate, but one-line plates are illegal, irrespective of the date of registration of the motorcycle

Fair enough. I should have stated in my last post that it was total assumption and i hadn't done any research.

Actually, thinking 'bout it, I should have just done some bloody research and got me facts right... Rolling Eyes

Anyway, it is kinda irrelevant as an even vaguely legally spaced/sized one line plate would look daft. But I was wrong... sorry!
