Hi all, starting a new job soon and the last place i worked was so bad for health and safety that it was shocking. Does anyone know where i can report this as i do fear for the people that work there.
examples:
Buzz saw with absolutely no protection with it, you would be standing there and the blade would cut torwards your face about 10 cm away, aswell as the obvious there would be bits of crap and dedbrey flying towards you
one sigle toilet between 30 employees thats vever cleaned
no saftey training given to staff when they start disbite there being drills, buzsaws extreame noise lev e.c.t.
noise lev was well above the limit in most areas wilth no saftey ear plugs e.c.t (i rember getting head pains alot there....
plastic dedbry everywhere on the floor/air.
fork lifts being used to lift staff members, staff climbing in and out of skips.
no break out area so you would be forced to eat where you worked with little bits of plastic EVERWHERE some one could easly
swallow something.
Is it just me or is this real bad??
Dont know if i can post the name of the company so i wont unless someone asks me.. |

heres a snippety bit from one of my college assignments...
| Quote: | 2: Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
Health and Safety at Work is also known as HASAWA, and was introduced in 1974 to help improve the health and welfare of workers.
It is a set of rules that all companies with employees must legally abide by for the safety of the workers. It basically makes employers legally responsible for accidents that occur in the workplace to the workers from improper safety procedures.
HASAWA consists of many elements, these include making sure the workplace is correctly maintained, cleaned and tidied to help lessen the risk of incident, it is also a requirement to have means of escape, necessary training and supervision and correctly maintained, looked after and operated machinery and tools.
As a result, since the introduction in 1974, accidents and incidents in the workplace have considerably lessened.
As well as all of the above, risk assessments must also be carried out in order to identify all the possible hazards and the risks involved.
HASAWA directly affects me by making my workplace much safer than it could have been. I now MUST wear goggles when I work on near enough anything, and other various Personal Protective Equipment items for other tasks. |
as well as this other snip from the same one
| Quote: | 5: Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations, also known as PUWER, were introduced in 1998 to asses and ensure the workings of all machinery used by a company. PUWER consists of checking the suitability of the work equipment used, ensuring it is maintained to a certain standard to keep it safe and working correctly and inspecting the machine before use to check nothing will go wrong during use.
Before any equipment is used, a risk assessment must be carried out to check for all possible risks during use, and appropriate measures brought in to help prevent incident.
Training and instruction must be given to every single employee using the machinery from qualified instructors who must provide the correct information required.
As well as the above, the company must set standards for the training instructors to meet, they must not fall below this standard. If employees do fall below this, they must not be allowed to use the machinery, those who meet the requirements must conform to all rules and requirements in order to maintain safety.
All machinery has specified hazards, I.E. moving parts etc.
Appropriate measures must be brought in to protect from the identified hazards. Some hazards however cannot be helped I.E. tool sharpeners will always have the risk of harm from the exposed grinder wheel.
As well as equipment faults and dangers, there are temperature requirements too, employers are required to maintain a work atmosphere of at least 13 degrees Celsius, and all significant changes to all of the above must have procedures to do so.
PUWER affects me at work by making sure all the machinery I use is safe and will continue to be safe as I use it, it will also ensure that my work environment will be maintained at a comfortable temperature to work in. |
in other words... talk to a superior, if nothing happens, keep going higher until external forces need to get involved. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. There was an explosion in factory in Glasgow where nine folk were killed.
The owners walked away form this......OK £200,000 fine
It was, the FAI found, a collection of blatant abuse of HSE directives.
Story for your perusal.....

In my opinion, if you do something which causes harm or permits others to be exposed to any harm you are responsible.
You should be hammered BEFORE it get to the level of attendance of Emergency Services.
Employers are bastards. ONLY TO SAVE MONEY this shit happens not to save lives. ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |
