Finally finished my 3 day DAS and have to say a big thanks to the Cardrome @ hornchurch getting me through my test.

Although I was a bit miffed with only actually getting 2 days training, considering I had no bike experience before my CBT in mid Jan, I am so chuffed I passed my test this morning.

Roads were slippery and I did have a boo-boo with my rear wheel slipping on a man-hole cover - scary moment but lesson learnt thats for sure.

Quick thanks to those on BCF for the advice on u-turns - tips worked a treat.

Now its time to sort out a new bike for myself Laughing

Congrats Thumbs Up but remember its just the beginning you'll continue to learn throughout your biking career. The DAS is only to get you through your test and theres so much more you'll pick up as you clock up the miles that they dont teach you on the course. At least you dont have to do U-turns ever again Very Happy

Good luck on your test tomorrow. I'm sure everything will be fine...

Dont panic if you think you made a small mistake here and there...I noticed plenty of mistakes I made which I thought would blow the test for me but never did...

Well done on the pass Thumbs Up
Be careful out there, may be nice but it is still cold.
Picked a disc of ice out of the bird bath last night, it is still there today

Be careful of covers, they are as you have found out slippy
and as they put them so cars dont run over them they put them in the middle of the road, which is in the way for us

There is a big square metal cover just off a roundabout in blackpool, really nasty in the wet

Thanks for the advice...as you said today was the first time out in damp conditions and it was so different to riding at the weekend when it was sunny...I know i still have loads to learn but I'm looking forward to the weather getting better Cool

Just very lucky it was my rear wheel that slid rather than my front...that could have been messy Laughing

Well i passed my test today with 2 minors Very Happy the first one i left my indicator on once i had pulled up alongside a curb but i realised after a few seconds and thought ah shiiiit ive failed already Sad (i think he saw how pissed off i was with myself for doing it that he let it slip to a minor Very Happy) and the other minor was because i was a little bit wobbly during my u-turn but i cant see myself doing many more of those haha. Apart from that he said it was a very good ride and seeing as I had no actual bike lessons (bought a cheap cg125 and have been riding that for the last 6 months since i done my cbt) the advice i've been given from other bikers and these forums has obviously helped me to become a competent rider. Now i'm about to pop out again and look at some 500's at my local bike dealers Cool hope to see some of you out on the roads during my future travels Thumbs Up

Congratulations!
I'm well aware that i've got into too many bad habits (I miss the odd shoulder check, tend to check mirrors as i change speed rather than in advance, pretty sure my positioning's not test-standard either), so I decided better to pay someone to drum them out of me rather than just take a punt at the test.
Hope the weather warms up a bit, as my gloves can manage about 45 mins of the -5 temperatures we've had the last few mornings before my fingers start hurting. The lessons are scheduled for 3 hours... Confused

Congrats

Drain covers are killers, always avoid them when cornering or you will hit the deck, and avoid them when accelerating, and avoid them while braking and especially avoid them when there wet or icy.

Just avoid them all the time
