Well apparently its called a 'J1' as its a H1.
But before you go jumping to conclusions saying no because it does not have the single seat unit... it was imported from japan with no fairings on, and it also had no mechanism for the rear seat. This is what first made me think it an SP. I've ruled out that it was a race bike because its so clean and has obviously been well looked after before it was stripped down and basically 'restored.'

If it is an SP it has a close-ratio gear box. But i have no idea what one feels like. Rolling Eyes To be honest I'm not too optimistic! But at £1000 i couldn't resist!

Heres a pic-

Shes the 319th zxr400 ever made Laughing

I would say it was an SP as it has the bracing arm on the swing arm which the standard H1 and H2 do not have.

Does it have fully adjustable forks and shock? forks have an adjuster at the bottom of the leg and shock has an adjuster on the bottle.

Does it have flatslide carbs?

If yes to all 3 its an sp, if not then no sorry it isnt. Id suspect its a tarted up standard model. And yes some H models did have a braced swingarm.

My H1 had fully adjustable shocks and flatside carbs but was not an SP model. Not sure on the original spec of both bikes as many have been modded being such a classic "little racer" There is no real way of knowing unless you have the original documents from the bike.

I thought the SP was single seat only...

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Either way it is a damn sexy looking bike and will still handle better than any of us could ever push it. Wish I still had my little 400. Had an L and an H model, The L had a nicer power delivery but the H handled better. Think im gona have to get one for a few track days Twisted Evil

The standard H model has a braced swingarm, I had one. Best way is to check the frame number, should be able to tell if it's an SP from that, try ZXRWORLD.

Not all standard H models had the braced swing arm as I had an H and mine didnt have one. Have also seen many H models with a standard swing arm. But agree the frame number is the best way to go.

Thats sorted then it's not an SP! If it definately is mean to say 'SP' in the frame number that is? Because like I say, the H1&2 never had an 'SP' but a 'J1' or the 'J model' which is often refered to as the 'SP.' Thats what i heard obviously...off zxrworld in fact.

Oh yea, and the H1&2 SP's didnt have flatslides or fully adjustable suspension...

Just to be sure, has anybody expirienced a close-ratio gearbox?

Cheers, Daz.

Hi

That it has pillion pegs (and provision to bolt them on) suggests it originally had a dual seat anyway.

All the best
