Yes, there should be an idle adjustment knob on the left hand side of the bike as you sit on it, should be just sticking out from the bottom of the carbs.

It will have a little black knob on it.

Was it thoroughly warmed up? In this weather mine takes a good 5 minutes (1 with choke on then 4ish manually holding the revs with the clutch in at junctions)

If not then there you are, apparenlty carb icing is also a problem. And mine idles at 1300, and still has this problem...

I've been having this problem with my bandit and I cannot see a black knob at the left hand side of the bike. There is a black plastic knob underneath the carbs in the center of the bike that is quite tricky to turn due to its position. I turned this and it did alter the idle but is this the correct knob? or is the idle knob really at the left hand side?

if its a mk1 "old" bandit, then the knob is like an old radio tuning knob -"knurled" is the correct description i think - in the middle of the carbs, yes its a bugger to get to, you'll know its the right one if you burn your arm continously whilst turning it when the engine is warm!

Yup it is definately the knob, Turn it clockwise to increase the idle speed, it wont need much turning to increase it, but have a play with it to get it to waht you need.
