Biking news again according to the beeb (warning government propaganda announcement!)

https://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7255445.stm

Theory test +£1.50

Bike test +£20 to £80.

Price rises will come in April 2008 , ie 2 months time, so yet another reason to get your test done and out of the way , AND for newer drivers who are affected by the 2 year new drivers act 6 point revokation rule should be careful.

Excellent service? I dont think loosing licence details is anywhere near excellent!

I think that would be the DVLA rather than DSA.

Service provided is wank though, my local test centre has no brew machine, and retains a cunt of an examiner despite repeated complaints by 3 different riding schools.

Where on earth did you get that figure from? The total to get your licence will probably go up as the tests will be done at these "Super centres" which means if you dont have one nearby you will need to travel to it which means more money for instructor time/bike hire/fuel etc. Example, i believe the closest one to bolton/bury would be the blackburn centre, thats like an hours ride away if you stick to the speed limits. Also extra training/time will be needed so you can perform the new and more difficult maneuvers to test standard, again more money.

My old instructor is concerned this will be the end for him doing DAS as whose gonna bother paying when they can travel over to blackburn and do their training cheaper by going with a school closer to the test centre?

I am sure it says the bike test price rise will be applicable from september 29th not april

Quote:
The biggest increase will be for motorcycle riders, who will see the more wide-ranging practical test rise on 29 September from £60 to £80.

Well I've already booked and paid for my theory, so they aren't getting that extra 1.50 off of me! Laughing I'm also going to make sure I pass my test before the end of September/beginning of October ( hopefully long before that and closer to the start of Summer Cool ), I cannot be arsed to do the new harder test... Laughing (plus I actually want to be legitimately on the road on the CBR 400 A.S.A.P).

yes - funny how pretty much everything is rising by a damned site more than inflation - energy, food, water, council tax etc etc

yet the gubmint claim that the CPI level of inflation is about 2% p.a. - what a joke.

noob here by the way - evening all.

Inflation has very little to do with it, they'd raise prices regardless.

I guess pre-booked tests before April commences don't count as of yet then as I've booked mine for May, and cost to me is unchanged from last years price list Thumbs Up Glad I'm getting mine out the way just in time, touch wood.
