I can get my 250 superdream to start from the kicker or from bumping but when it comes to starting from the "start button" all that happens is a lot of "clicking"...i took the side panel off next to the battery and the "clicking" is coming from a little silver pot with wires coming out of the top that is connected to the battery....Help please!!!

the "little silver pot" you describe is probably the starter relay. Has it got a thick wire going to the battery and another thick wire going to the starter motor? If so, with the ignition on and in neutral put a insulated screwdriver across the two terminals on the relay and see if the starter turns. It will probably spark so be prepared and try not to shit yourself.

So it's sorted then?

Give your battery a charge if you can. Has the bike been stood for a while? If so the battery may be flat and that would be the cause of your problem.

Do you know if the bike is charging the battery correctly? If so just take the bike for a 20 minute ride instead, much more fun than charging it.

Do the starter relays have a habit of sticking cause it was a problem, it seems, for just yesterday?

The bike was stood and neglected for a few months..I aquired it on sunday and therefore have no insurance docs yet and therefore no tax so i cant take it for a run till hopefully tomorrow...but i will try ur idea and get back to you....cheers once again!

Then I'd definately say to give the battery a FULL charge, with a bike charger not car charger.

Relays can stick, infact I've had one stick ON (not a pleasant thing)

If you want try and prevent it happening again (if it DID stick) i'd take the connections off the battery and give the terminals a good clean with a wire brush or something (bring them up shiny again) and do the same with the solenoid.

Make sure you tighten any connections back up TIGHT.

If it does happen when you're out just remember the screwdriver trick. Failing that, a spanner but with a glove on.

It's probably the battery! Get it charged.
