That's presuming they're a bike gang interested in bikes, rather than racketeering, drugs and prostitution etc... considering the location, I'd suspect the latter Smile.

By the name of the club "Southern Cross Cruiser Club" and the Harley Dresser in the photo they may well be the kind of club more interested in boys in leather than bikes.

the one that was caught and had minor injures would be pressing charges against the bikers and claiming compo

Well surely if they are a "biker gang", regardless of what they are involved in they are gonna get to their meetings on bikes? or do biker gangs drive cars now?

Yes, you will often see so patch-back members driving around in cars - for Australasia, it'd mean they don't have to be quite so conspicuous when transporting heavy arms, etc Smile.

I knew i was not down with the 1% scene, But they say it was a meeting with over 50 bikers, now that in my head strikes the image of a load of fat bearded harley riding bikers riding two abreast, surely if they are dealing in arms or drugs or people it would be incognito, ie a couple of them in a car as you say,

Im boring myself typing about this so ile just leave it,

I just assumed 'biker gangs' rode bikes around... meh

All depends what you mean by a 'biker gang' - to many, especially in the UK, that does mean just that.

However, in Australasia the 1% scene is a little more 'heavy' I believe. And can operate a little more openly than they could get away with in the UK, though you still get some serious security on 'club-houses etc around here, just that they aren't nearly as blatant about it Smile
I believe there have been cases of rocket attacks sent from one club house to a rival's - pretty damn heavy stuff in supposedly 'civilised' countries.

Can't remember the exact details, but remember a case of a national rugby squad deciding to leave a hotel they were supposed to be having a party in because a 'bike gang' was also there at the same time.

I would define a 'biker gang' as a gang who ride bikes as their primary group transport, and that any illegal dealings are on the side...

I mean if MS-13 or the Crips rode around on bikes i doubt they would be called a 'biker gang'

If the movies are to be believed the Yakuza and Triads love usings bikes for pillion drive-by's, but i wouldent call them a 'biker gang', just a gang that uses bikes.

Surely though if there is 50 of them at this bar, theres gotta be what at least 10 bikes parked up outside? or do they charter coaches or something?

As should be clear i know very little about 1% clubs, here or in Aus, but please feel free to enlighten me further G, dident know that aussie gangs were more overt...

yeah biker gangs in nz and oz are a lot... ummm more angry?? than you get over here. over here a bike gang is just a bunch of ordinary guys who just happen to have bikes that meet up.
in nz they are a major criminal element, seen "once were warriors"??
its just like that. i remember when i was a kid doing my paper run past the mongrel mobs hq a group of the rival gang came down the street with bats and knives and shit. (well, no shit, except in my pants)
ready for a good ole fashioned gang fight.
i wouldnt be messing with any of them, and definity wouldnt be attempting a robbery around them... thats their job Very Happy

I agree if they mainly us Cars, vans and trucks to commit there illegal activity’s and just like dressing in biker attire sure that would just make them just slightly camp thugs that like beards and leather.

But I’m not sure they where criminal, obviously not being an expert on crime I may be wrong but how many Gangs appoint chairman and have large group meeting? Did this meeting have an agenda and was someone taking minutes?

It wouldn't surprises me if 'Jester' was a charted accountant during the week and Chairman of the Southern Cross Cruiser Club on the weekends.

What they should and are described as is often two different things - obviously such organisations would prefer to be seen as a bike club, rather than a mafia.

Doesn't sound like this lot were too dodgy, but yes, criminal organisations do have chairman style people and large group meetings.

I believe a while ago the Scottish Rugby team left their hotel in Australia when they found out a local bike gang were also using it.
