Have you ever been sold a battery that you had to add your own acid to?
No - Don't be ridiculous, you NEVER get sold batteries with the acid pack.

I haven't voted as I can't tick more than one option.

If I buy from a garage they usually do it for me, if I get them online then I add it myself.

When you buy in person do they give you a choice or insist they do it?

Well you don't want a battery that has the acid in already because you don't know how long it's been in there. Fair play if the garage does it for you there and then but it's not hard to do yourself.

(Haven't read the other thread, so sorry if this has already been said Very Happy )

When I order it, they ask if I want them to fill it when it arrives, as I'm lazy I say yes.

All the bike batteries I've bought (though not the car ones as they usually come charged) have come with the acid pack, though I normally ask the shop to put it in for me.

Having now read the thread mentioned in the OP I can just see this being turned into exactly the same argument Laughing

So my grand experience of buying a total of 1 battery from a Yamaha dealer (non - maintenance battery) is that they gave me the battery with an acid pack (in the same box) and gave me instructions on what to do. Thumbs Up

Hi

Local dealers all supply the batteries filled with acid.

Batteries bought at bike shows have normally come with a couple of bottles of acid.

All the best

Bike ones bought online or from normal shops have all been supplied with the bottle of acid to fill the battery with myself.

Have a sealed car battery that was ordered online and delivered with the acid already in it. Wink

That's nice of them. They just ushered me out of the shop and said "you'll be fine, you'll be fine!" Laughing

Where I work we always fill up the bettery with acid and charge the battery for the customer.

One of the mechanics says I can't put the acid in though because of health and safety Rolling Eyes

Just picked up a new battery the other week.
Acid came with it in the box so yes, I have to add it myself.
The guy gave me the instructions on how it should be done.

However, if I'd given them some notice then they'd have done it for me and made sure charged ok so I'd be good to go.

HTH Thumbs Up

I have AGM batteries now, would never go back to the standard lead acid type, they are so weak in comparison.

Every bike battery ive bought comes in a box, With a "cell Rail" of bottles, Full of acid, which you just poke into the top of the battery, turn it over, Acid goes straight into each battery cell. Then you put the seal across the cells.

Every Car battery ive bought has came pre-filled.
We stock batteries at work, They are volt checked every week, And are returned to supplier after 6 months.

If I sell a battery to someone I ask them to come back later so I can fill and charge it. Some people don't like the idea but I always insist on doing it. Thumbs Up

I bought a battery from Fowlers a few years ago and they filled it while I waited but didn't charge it. Gel type batteries are usually OK without a charge but it's always best to charge them.

PS. We ask our suppliers to leave the batteries empty so we can do them ourselves. Gives them a better shelf life and they will be tip-top when we sell them.
