Now you can take this however you will.
This is quite lengthy and maybe just another crash post but i think its a bit better than your average read !! Wink Razz
My bad luck coming off the bike, and possibly the luck i have with a few
other things after.

After meeting the usuall guys an gurls at the wheel
i went to go home. Fairly straight forward run home.
Anyway all is going well.
I end up in brum (town center) and know where i'm heading.
its fairly quite only a few cars bobbing around.

I manage to come off after an island doing roughly 60 mph.
after you come off the island as you break left to come of the island it sweeps left then tight then straight road from then one till the next island.

I manage to come of about 1-2 seconds after the corners.
The bike went into a wobble at as i say 60 mph.
As soon as the bike went into the wobble (everything slows down as it does...i remember watching countless videos and seeing wobbles, and how many of them actually come out of it...not many)

So knewing i was gonna come of the bike (which was enevatable!! Laughing (sp there)
I go sliding and the bike flys out.
next second i'm looking at the ground before rolling over again and looking and the sky...(its so pretty...lol)
while sliding of course.
i manage to look and see the bike sliding on its side and spining round.
(Nice! Cha Ching Cha Ching the money in my head for damage was racking up)

I look to the other side as i gently come to a stop and check for any cars coming towards me.
What luck, theres none, a feel of relief is brought then as i'm still there and not unconsious in the middle of brum (not a nice place to be at night)

So i run, well ok not run trot over to the debris of whats left of my bike and pick the thing up to find its pissing coolant like mad.
Damn.

I notice the front brake doesnt work. Clutch barly works.
ok, where fine... we can over come this.
There was one witness. a middle age man and he actually parked up with me to help.
I asked to use his phone. which was very nice of him. i didnt even think that i had one in my pocket. i blame the shock and not thinking correctly.
Anyway i'm sure his never seen someone bounce round shouting obsenaties at him self before.
After my Evil dance of hatered i use his phone to tell my parents whats happened and that i'm going to leave the bike at the fire station.
(mom works there)

Now, all i have to do is get there...
i'll be buggered if i'm walking, and i cant really remember which way the fire station is...still a little dazed, i get back on the bike and she starts! wahey!! dont do this though, could be petrol spillage...

as i went to ride of i notice theres no right peg... hmm thats good (cha ching cha ching that register keeps laughing at me Laughing )

i manage to pull a taxi over and get him to take me to the fire station (bare in mind the bike by this time has no coolant in it)

Excellent as long as the bike doesnt seize i'm home free!

lol, no the bike doesnt end up seizeing it holds out unbelivably.
But guess who does spot me ridding a damaged bike, no indicators and no head light...
The police.
I went past as they where sitting in a bus shelter waiting for people i supose (like me whoops!)
Rolling Eyes

I saw them pull out, and thought there gonna pull me over no doubt.
i look over my shoulder again to see there lights are on. (me also has no mirrors)

Yay i thought , ill never ride a bike again.
I'm way over the limit of drinking, i have no L plates, i'm riding a bike thats absoloutly a bitch to ride and has no front light.
I thought there gonna have a field day with me.
I might aswell bend over the police car and take it. Wink

now to my suprise i got of the bike, helmet off keys out ignition, and through my hands up basically and told them what happened.
The two women (and yes they where hot!!)
sympathised (sp?) with me and gave me an escort to the fire station (kinda wished it was the other escort service though,,,,Rarrr!!) Cool Cool

Thank god they didnt breathalise me, they did take me to the fire station where i left the bike, and went home , got back at about 2 am.

so all in all it was a mixture of being lucky and unlucky at the same time.
I'm very glad i was wearing LEATHERs though.
Ive come of with a slight bruise to my sholder and a cut on my thumb.
Big deal for a 60mph slide.

Still dont understand why i went into a wobble...

it was good that you were wearing your leathers and know that they work, do they have to be repaired?

All the stitching in the leathers are fine.
There just scuffed, so i can probably get away with it.
Helmets fucked though, lol.
Wasnt very old either, about a month. Grrr!

Oh and i cant imagine what it would have been like without leathers.
There no doubt i would be in hospital with all sorts of skin feck ups.
thank god for leathers . its money well spent and the piss taking of friends and that.
all ive come away with is a few grazes, and coming of at 60mph thats being very lucky if you ask me.

Total damage i might get away with about £150.

that would be great mate, something else to experiment on , damage to it dont matter as it will never be used on the road just to see how I can attach stuff to the visor etc (the fact its in the ehlemt would be good from the fact I'll be able to see how it works in the helmet to!

nice one, just keep hold of it and next time we all arrange to meet up I'll make sure I have a tail pack on or the like so I can collect it

I do have to agree with Luke. Drink riding is daft, and you are lucky that you didnt hurt anyone or yourself. Drinkdriving is one of the few traffic laws that i think should be made tighter, and have larger concequences!

Glad that you are alright though.

and £150 isnt bad, considering you should have been fined and major points for what you did!

I agree...I got four hours in hospital, bruised ribs , thumb and chest, Sore neck for a week, A feck off chip out of my knee, 6 stitches, concussion, pulled ligaments in my right small finger and nearly three weeks stuck in Bed for coming off at around 50ish mph with just a helmet and gloves on top of a wooly jumper and my casual clothing...oh and the scars to brag about.... Very Happy although I have to admit I would crash again though Razz

Ride safely

Did the 'wobble' start from the front (ie a tank slapper)?

I shant criticise you for riding drunk, because I did do it a few times at that age. However do consider that it may well be a pot hole or something that you missed because you were drunk. As ste said.... just consider, next time it could be a whole lot worse, possibly for someone else rather than you, which could mean a long prison sentance. Not nice.

Ouch. Glad you are OK.

Wobbles are caused by loads of things. Normally play in the suspension will cause a problem, such as wheel bearings, steering head bearings, swinging arm bearings, rear shock linkages. Also the damping going awol will cause problems (such as fork seals or rear shock giving up the ghost)

To get the bike home if you have access to a car with a tow bar you can borrow the bike trailer. Give me a ring if you need it

All the best

Keith

Not nice to hear about accidents!
Although £200 is not bad for a 60mph crash. The wonders of not having much fairing to worry about.
