Yah at last, the top end of engine is back from the tuning man.

Engine paint is proper scruffy so my dad gave me the idea of making a home made bead blasting booth, because the idea of it is quite simple.

1.Buy booth materials, well most of it was lying around anyway.

Assemble (check out the door sealant strips on the edges Wink) ...

Rig up air line, lights and a breather (garden hose leading outside of shed)...
https://img211.imageshack.us/img211/5329/24022008146zk9.jpg

Put door on with built in long rubber gloves and go...

Took a few combinations of grit/guns/nozzles to get it to work, also my compressor runs out of steam fairly quick so will invest in larger one soon!
But apart from all of that check out the end title...

They were alot grubbier but i used nitromors to strip the paint of etc. Dull on the right, bead blasted on the left..

Both done...

I got one of these lat year. Great piece of kit for the money. I used mine last week to paint my shed with the spraygun. Took about 10 mins. brilliant!.

They also have these in on thursday, Spot blast kit, £9.99. I may get one myself.

Warning tho. A 25ltr compressor just about deals with it, you keep having to wait for it to charge up again.

I bought one of these earlier with the extension hose and the spot blast kit. Will be trying it out on the weekend if the weather permits. I'll let you know how I get on, as and when.

cheers,
jack

frost auto restorations sell a kit to make your own, go to www.frost.co.uk and type in "shot blasting cabinet" and its the diy one on there, just in case there are people out there who would struggle to make one from scratch. from what i remember all you need to buy for the cabinet is the wood (no you dont get the compresser before any one asks! can't remember if you get a blast gun but i dont think so). any way hope this helps someone.

Can someone explain how this works? is it basically an air gun that fires out sand to strip paint?

Cool Laughing

How do you get the sand in front of the air?

As the compressed air leaves the gun it causes a vacumm / depression over the container that holds the grip / medium that you are using and drags it up into the air stream, thus blasting it out with the air, similar to a compressed air spray gun
