Hi

I have just bought a 2 year old Honda NSR125R, any tips anyone can give me on it. The guy i bought it off said i should lube the chain every week, i have some 'doctor bike' Heavy duty chain lub and chain wax protector, will this be ok? Also if anyone knows any cheap insurance companies for young people (i'm 18) on a provisional.

thx

Danny (from London, Wimbledon)

Welcome Danny, I'm sure loads of people will come up with really good places.
I'd suggest www.mitch.co.uk - I don't know what they are like for young riders, but for old gits like myself they are very good.
I'd also point you towards Carole Nash, but again I don't know what they are like for youg riders Confused
Oh, and Motorcycle Direct (www.motorcycledirect.co.uk) are also worth a try, but they don't do online quotes.

The other option (and probably the best bet) is to buy a coipy of Bike or Ride and look in the back. The best ones usually have 0800 numbers too Smile

Hi

Thx guys (and girls) i found Cofield to be the best, i paid £608 third party fire and theft with £550 excess, which i don't think is too bad considering i'm 18 living in south London and have no NCB.
If anyone has any general riding and/or maintenance tips for this bike please post them. As i mentioned earlier

" The guy i bought it off said i should lube the chain every week, i have some 'doctor bike' Heavy duty chain lube and chain wax protector, will this be ok?"

Thx for all the help

Danny Very Happy

In the winter you should certainly at least check the lube of your chain every week, you may not need to lube it, but it's easy to check and it is very important. The heavy duty chain lube should be OK for the winter and the wax is OK for the summer.

Make sure you remove any buildup of crud from the chain. Spraying chain lube on top of road grit makes a perfectly good and expensive grinding paste.

Just the job for killing chains...
