I've been thinking about various security systems for the next bike.

A quite good one, I think, would be to simply connect 240 volt mains power to the bike's metal frame. My back yard has a damp concrete floor. I could put a switch in the house to turn it on and off.

After all, if they got shocked, what are they going to do? Call the police?

(By the way, this is a serious idea - I think it'd work very well.)

Anyone else got any ideas? Very Happy

Same idea, but maybe some sort of bike cover that has a mesh of wire on the outside that you hook up to the system.

Would pumping high volts through your bike not maybe cause a short or something?

P.S. It's high amps that cause damage, not high volts. Bear this in mind when you want to cause the most pain Smile

Quite possibly yes (or you might have to if you find them unconcious on the ground, having been thrown back and smacked their head). And you would be in rather more trouble that they would.

All the best

But who's going to find them when they're unconscious in a barrel bobbing down the river? Laughing

Years ago my mate kept getting some scrote tyring break in to his garage through a small window above the side door. My mate put silver foil top and bottom connected to the mains so that anyone climbing through would get a good belt.

He was charged with ABH as it caught a 14yr old tring to climb in and the lad left a peice of his scalp on the top bit of foil. The lad wasn't charged with anything.

FANTASTIC fucking justice system.

Sometimes i really do wish we had the same rights as americans - who are actually allowed to protect their property and can shoot anyone they want to, if on their property.

Thinking about it, the electricity would travel down the sidestand to ground.

Ah well, that's that idea scuppered.

Perhaps an electric fence on top of the back gate though. I believe they're actually legal if you put a warning sign up.

you have to have about 10000 warning signs per metre of fence, youre better off with some decorative broken glass bottles attached to the top of said wall/fence.

use a plastic puck, they were giving the things out at the bike show in Manchester,

but in itself its not a great idea , alot of bikes use the frame as the earth and thus it may damage ££££ stuff like the CDI perhaps.

the best traps are those that look like accidents, and thus:

Lye ---> drain cleaner , causes awful chemical burns , the excuse is that you were cleaning your drains recently.

Put it on a window frame (and remember not to touch it yourself covering it with cling film) , retarted chavs will find water to cool the burning water makes it worse.

Poorly wired light switch = plausible excuse.

Bamboo grown underneath windows with long drops (punji sticks)

The perfect trap for windows I just thought up,

A weak say balsa wood box , inside containing an open bottle of lye , and or course water and lime powder with a padlock and hasp on the front to give it plausible deniability.

Onto of this you grow bamboo,

Scrote climbs in , gets burns on his hands lets go and is impaled on the bamboo, at the same time crushing the box and being covered in lye and water, you inside hear blood curdling screams? , turn up the radio, and leave them for a bit.

There was a 'Security Expert' from Connington who was sick of local yoofs taking his Cosworth for joyrides so he rigged up the car. As I remember it the way he'd rigged it you needed to be braking into the car to be shocked.

He still had to go to Court on a charge of Assault the next time the little Scrotes tried.

I think it was on here i read about the ladder trick.

If you have a wall or something that needs climbing (or a high window/roof access etc ) to get into your stuff.

Get a nice big wooden ladder and leaving it right beneath the best spot to climb up, a typical invitation to try and steal.

But carefully saw through a few of the upper rungs and then place them back together so they are held in place by their own weight.

Someone sets it up, gets 3/4 the way up and treads/ grabs the broken rungs and splat... falls.

And no officer i had no idea the ladder was broken, but then again i have never used it Twisted Evil

You forgot to mention putting all the cracked glass bottles under the window. You never knew that someone might fall onto them from above! Twisted Evil

A friend of my mum had a ladder like that (though genuinely rotten), a scrote tried to climb up it to break into the house, fell off and sued them for loads, then pressed charges Evil or Very Mad

Hmm got any more details? What did they get done on etc?

Not questioning it sounds exactly like what would happen i am just interested to know what the buggers use as grounds to sue.

Bloody lawyer bastards.

I will never understand the

'I was trying to illegally break into your property when xxx happened and now i am sueing you'.

grrr,

nowadays if you meet an intruder you got to cook them dinner, shine their shoes and bend over first or they'll probably do you for sexual harrassment of their mothers sisters cat.

Sorry, I don't know any details other than those stated above, it was a good couple of years ago, but if I remember correctly it put the couple that were getting broken into severely into debt, whereas the thief got no punishment. (as he hadn't actually managed to get into the house before the ladder broke)

Do you reckon if you put up adequate warnings... i.e. "Any equipment used at own risk" then they would have no grounds? Smile

Or alternatively just fuck them over once they've actually got into the premises.

Noooo.

Think of the damage to the kittens.

That is actually illegal to use now.

Even putting up warning signs is not enough. Folks have sued companies when climbing onto their roofs to break in, because they have not used the proper walkways and fallen through the roof......

Spose best way is to keep some meat eating amimals who can just munch their way through the remains.

It stems from a very old case

Donoghue_v_Stevenson 1932

Wiki sums it up quite nicely

In tort law, a duty of care is a legal obligation imposed on an individual requiring that they adhere to a reasonable standard of care while performing any acts that could foreseeably harm others.

and also this bit

At common law, in the case of landowners, the extent of their duty of care to those who came on their premises varied depending on whether a person was classified as a trespasser, licensee, or invitee. This rule was eventually abolished in some common law jurisdictions. For example, England enacted the Occupiers Liability Act 1957. Similarly, in the 1968 landmark case of Rowland v. Christian, the Supreme Court of California replaced the old classifications with a general duty of care to all persons on one's land, regardless of their status.

And thus in a court of law even though they are trespassers , one is implied to have a duty of care to them ,

This is why my traps are perfect, ie a locked box with harmful chemicals inside , in effect you have fulfilled your implied contract of duty of care by putting them into a 'safe' storage area,

A claimant will claim a duty of care was owed due to the above laws , but the fact that you put it in a locked box fulfilled any possible reasonable steps of duty of care.
