Maybe its not made in the UK or not imported or anything.

Or maybe its just because everyone are nerds and no-one wants 1.

Because people are too chicken to ride them.

They are all yellow-backed scaredy cats and the nasty scary motorbike might bite them.

They are also afraid that people might talk about them behind their back and think they are some sort of prole for riding an MZ.

So they continue to blow their wad on poorly constructed, fast rotting Japanese bikes.

In other words, the great British public is by and large totally incapable of judging a vehicle by its merits. They need to be told what to buy by half a dozen blokes, all sat in the same office, churning out the various and sundry glossy bike magazines.

Skoda is only just starting to get over exactly the same problem.

Nice speech Stink Smile

Personally i wouldn't buy one if i couldn't get parts for it from local dealers quite fast.

Also because it is 1 ugly machine.. But thats just me.. As you described I'm one of these 'yellow-backed scaredy cats' that prefers a nice shiny R6.

^^ My first bike was an MZ (new, see my profile). Bluddy good bike Thumbs Up I was stopped a few times by people saying wow MZ have come along way since their "day". Folk that knew nothing about bikes used to say "can't go wrong with german engineering aye"... so never really had any negative about the MZ.

So, stinkwheel have you seen any of these in the UK? Even the 1000S Question

I've seen two on the road. One streetfighter one at the Dragon rally and one 1000s at the Green Welly at Tyndrum. I had a good poke about, the standard of finish is excellent and the engine design is surprisingly compact (if somewhat tall, good and narrow though). Both owners were very pleased with them.

I would like to have one. If one had come up at a good price when I was buying my VFR, I would have had one. There were none for sale second hand though, which I find interesting because they sold a few of them, if they were shit, they would be available second hand and cheap.

I am almost willing to bet it is possible to have parts posted out from Germany quicker than most Japanese bike dealers could get them in stock at their shops. Famously efficient those Germans.

EDIT: Total supersize rider on the adverts though. They are a fairly substantial motorcycle in real life (I reckon they'd make a great hyper-tourer) but quite narrow as they don't have to squeeze 4 pots, carbs and exhaust headers along the frame.

I like it, and think it would make an excellent city bike. I think I'm getting a bit wary of the vmax these days (I prefer my gsxr streetfighter for safety reasons Surprised )... can't even find any on ebay.de so they must be held by their owners Question

Not just cheap. The build quality is very high. Some of the trailie types are using yammy engines so maybe thats how they get the prices down (ie using other manufacturers engines?)

I prefer S to SF. This looks like Triumph sprint ST.
And I like parallel twin. I like the sound. torque. Rich midrange.
So I like the biggest parallel twin MZ1000.

The problem is that the main importers for MZ in the UK were BSA Regal...

Yeah. Says it all really. BSA being famous for running a successful motorcycle brand that didn't go bust in the slightest and totally didn't pulll any others down with them *cough NVT cough*Rolling Eyes

In Scotland, the original dealer unfortunately got bought out by Alvins in Edinburgh whose level of customer service is reflected in their current level of liquidity.

A series of unfortunate business decisions in other words. Franchised through idiots to people who couldn't give a shit about their customers. By the time the bikes got into the hands of people who gave a flying fart about selling them, the damage was done.

They should have offered the franchises to some of the small, specialist bike dealers (eg Ducati, Moto Guzzi, Bimota) and run it direct from Germany.
