I enquired about getting my alternator rewound when it went on my Planet.
It turned out it would take lots of manhours to do - far more than it would cost to replace it. First of all it depends on the size of the alternator - small is difficult and on what grade of wire is used, but the difficult thing is you have to remember exactly how many winds there are when you unwind it and make sure there are exactly the same number when you wind it back. nd there are alot of winds. I'm surprised they could do it for as little as #70 actually.
If I remember correctly a new alternator was going to cost me #150 (or was it #250 ) so i got one through a breakers for about #40 instead and it is working so far (touch wood ) ____________________ About me|@Major_Grooves|My company|Digg|Flickr |
