Advice needed about being taken to court.

As I'm sure I've mentioned, I had a car crash back in Feb 2006 - it was entirely my fault, I was driving too fast (as arrogant 17 year olds who have just passed their driving test are prone to do) and crashed head-on into another (stationary) car. My car was fucked, hers was probably repairable, no-one had any injuries, and I learnt a big lesson.

Before I go any further, please don't have a go at me - I know it was stupid, it was a long time ago and I'm a lot more careful now.

However, about 8 months ago I got a letter from a solicitor saying that I was being sued for 'Failure to control my vehicle in such a way as to avoid a collision' and apparently she had neck and lower back injuries (which seemed like bollocks to me as I requested a copy of her medical history and it seems that she's had neck and lower back problems since 1985.)

A few weeks after that, I then received another letter from the court saying that I had a set amount of time to make an objection, but not actually giving me a date for the court hearing. I ignored it.

Since then I've not heard anything at all.

What does this mean?

That the court decided in my favour and didn't award her anything?
That my insurance company at the time have taken care of it? (I didn't mention anything about the letter to them).
Or that they've simply lost track of me? (I've changed address since then and only told the council and the DVLA.)

I'm assuming this is a civil claim, and there's no chance of me losing my driving license retrospectively? (I was only given a caution by the police at the time).

To me it sounds like a civil claim as a way to force the insurance company to pay up. As though the insurance company have said "get stuffed" to the other driver for their injuries claim, so they are trying to claim directly.

Contact your insurance company (from the time of the accident).

Ok so even if she did have prior problems with neck and back. One thing for sure is you will have aggravated them and made them worse.

Also do not think that just moving will stop them chasing you. They will find your details.

Call your insurance and pass it all over to them to deal with!!
