I haven't been on this site for a long time so I'm due a good moan.

How's this for luck:

I came to the horrible realisation a week ago that ALL my bike gear had been nicked from the boot of my car.

THE LOT - lid, leathers, gloves, boots and even my smelly balaclava.

Oh yes, and the only key I have to my bike was tucked safely in the pocket of my leathers. (I know Brick Wall ).

I keep my bike in my dad's garage so had my gear in the boot for when I went round.

I've had a ford focus rental car temporarily through work which has a clever button on the key to lock the car, right next to the one that opens the boot.

The only explanation is that I accidentally unlocked the boot instead of locking the car.
It doesn't actually visibly pop the boot open at all, so some pikey has just tried his luck with a line of cars and hit the jackpot.

The whole car must have been unlocked because a bluetooth ear piece had been nicked too.

My bike is at the garage now as they're taking off the ignition unit to get the code to get a new key.

I was planning to buy new leathers soon but lid, boots, gloves alone were worth about 500 so that is a solid kick in the nuts.

The upgrade of bike is going to have to wait this year now. My plan for summer now is just to get new gear and do a track day.

It would have been cheaper if they'd nicked the bike with insurance.

It's not the end of the world. My only consolation to myself is thinking I could have skidded down the road and lost my gear that way, so I'm quite lucky, if that makes sense.

I always have my name and address in the pocket of my leathers, hope you didnt do the same, or you'll be needing a new ignition not a new key.
