BBC News wrote:
Detectives investigating the disappearance of Shannon Matthews have arrested her stepfather on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children.

Craig Meehan, 22, was arrested after officers on the Shannon Matthews case carried out inspections on a number of computers.

Mr Meehan was arrested at the family home at 0800 BST on Wednesday.

BBC Version

Sky version

Comes as no surprise, tbh.

Sick

This struck me too:

Quote:
Mr Meehan, a fishmonger, has lived at the property with Karen Matthews, a mother-of-seven, for five years.

Craig Meehan, 22

So he was 17?!?!? Shocked Neutral

Shannon is still not home either - 'voluntarily in care'. Thinking

I reckon a lot more will come of of this by the end...

Their level of co-operation with the authorities reeked of "I'm guilty of something, if I co-operate maybe they wont investigate me".

It'll be interesting to see the full story unfold.

I'd been waiting for something to "transpire".

He does look like one doesn't he. I think it's the shape of the glasses that made him look dodgy to me. Confused

Hmmm, I think maybe it's time for me to buy some different glasses. I've only just got over the whole incident at the swimming pool when the 'S' fell off my Speedos!

I reckon she was being abused by her step-father and went to her uncles to escape and now he is being wrongly accused of abducting her.

Just my viewpoint on the situation.

Obviously we aren't going to get any major facts for months or years.

I could understand that if she wasn't under the bed and if the step Uncle had phoned her Mother to let her know that she was safe but she's round his house due to blah blah blah...

well he has to hide her, as he doesnt have the mothers permission does he.

If he had told the mother, she would have just picked up the daughter and just taken her back.

I agree, I think its quite possible that the uncle was a good guy going about it the wrong way, and the kid was trying to escape a homelife that wasnt very nice.

What, for a month ?

Like I've said Colin, I could understand him helping out IF he'd have either phoned the Mother and explained why she's there or phoned the police and explained to them, he had a month to do it but didn't, hardly think that comes across as him 'helping' the girl, do you ?...

you are assuming that the mum is not part of the problem

I think the girl came to him and said she didnt want to go home.

He should have just made her go home anyway for his benefit.

By doing what was good for her at the time, he's in a right pickle now.

I knew a girl who fell out with her family and went to live with her nan without telling anybody. The nan never told anybody either for ages. The family were worried. This girl I knew wasnt that young, but im thinking that the shannon situation was along similar lines.

OK so let's say the Mother is a part of them problem, why didn't he phone the police and explain to them, you can keep coming back saying the same thing and giving me examples of the girl you knew but I'll never understand why he didn't do anything along with the Gran of the girl you mentioned.

Bad parenting skills and no sense of right and decency if you ask me... Thinking

Well i dont think kids in care are that much better off sometimes. Think of Jersey.

I also knew someone who grew up with foster homes and he had a nasty time.

The blokes mistake was thinking he could somehow hide the kid forever. He couldnt. For all I know he is a pedo, but i think he was more of a good samaritan and didnt know what to do for the best.

If some kid knocked on my door, i wdnt take the risk, id just pack the kid off to social services if they refused to go back to their parents.

Id walk on by, not try to help out. Which is all you can do really, but he didnt realise that.

No, it gets worse - they all seem to be utter vermin, and the sad thing is that the little kid (who is terribly ugly) is probably going to grow up just like them.
