Well i was riding home from work one night and then all of a sudden the thing just goes mental, first of all it started spluttering which i presumed was something to do with fuel, but before i had time to pull over it took off and then the rev counter started going crazy, it went from 1000rpm into the red and back and forth for no reason, any ideas what the hell is going on?

any help would be greatly appreciated,

thanks in advance,
Gary

a few weeks ago i had a similar problem, but it would lead to a total loss of electricity.

i had to strip all the bike plastics and clean every connection on the bike. earths especially!

good luck!!

aww poo, im fearing that is probably a connector or wire to do with the speed sensor, is this complete bull? or does the nsr actually have one, i was lead to believe its near the flywheel? correct me if im wrong, but i have no idea what to do, iv checked the fuel line and it seems fine, fuel goes in when started and the air filter is dry, looked at the carb and that seems in good workin order too, no varnishing or dirt, and ill try cleaning the connectors cause that would make sense right now, any more help greatly appreciated

Check around the carb for air leaks. Air getting sucked in could explain the sudden high revs - unlikely to cause the spluttering though.

The rubber inlet manifold is prone to splitting, especially around the jubilee clip.
