Has this happened to anyone else? I can't see to get around it.

Does it happen at high or low revs?? Or both??

How many miles has your bike done? What bike is it? When does it happen? Does it happen all the time?

It could be a number of things but we need more information to help to identify exactly what it is.

It happens to me occassionaly on my TDR250 if I'm riding a low revs and lazy with my shifter foot (I need to lower the pedal in all fairness, overcompensated when last adjusted due to new 'chunkier' boots.

Stop being fluffy with the gear lever, give it a firm shove into gear.

Are you giving it a good solid click into second, when I went from my Hayabusa to my R6, I was forever missing second as it needs a solid change motion.

As it's a fairly new bike (at 250 miles) you shouldn't be revving it too hard yet. But if it is acting up, take it straight back to the dealer and get them to look at it, as you'll invalidate your warranty if you start playing with it whilst trying to fix it.

He is probably trying to run it in properly, which is what you should be doing too.

if he has no trouble then are you sure you are pulling in the clutch properly? i think if i change gear without the clutch, the bike sounds loud. i havent done it for a very long time so can't remember though.

I just wasn't kicking it firmly enough to get it into 2nd.

Not a fun experience at 50mph, to find you're not in gear! Shocked

I get this now and then . usually when it happens to me I find I've put pressure on the gear shift with my foot prior to pulling in the clutch for the change.

Make sure you're not touching the gear level before making the change and see if that works

You have to go through neutral to get from first to second. I'd suggest being a bit firmer with the lever when changing up.

Yeah, if you've only done less than 250miles on the bike. Then keep riding it. You'll be doing something silly I'll bet.

Either trying to change too fast, or not pulling the clutch in properly.
