I was commuting to work, had a lovely ride in being followed by a chap on what looked like a Fazer, we parted at the Almondsbury interchange M4/M5. Anyway I carried on south 80-85 mph 'ish building up speed as the traffic began flowing again. As I got to the bottom of the hill approaching Avonmouth and junc18 I noticed a car about half a mile back flashing it's headlights. Thought little of it and carried on, at the bottom of the hill I was doing 100 mph so I started to back off and get into position for the Avonmouth bridge and junc19, where I get off. I'd moved from lane 4, to 3, to 2 steadily changing, with indication and life-savers, I was just about to move across into lane 1 having matched my speed to the vehicles already there 60-65mph, when as I indicated the unmarked police car behind me put his lights and siren on just for a second or two. Because by then it was too late to do anything as lane 1 had now become a slip road and I was leaving the carriageway. I looked across to see the copper looking at me, I honestly don't know what his intent or point was and as it was too late all he could do was carry on south. To be honest I felt a bit annoyed as when I came across the Avonmouth bridge there were cars in lane 4 doing at least 100mph and a 4x4 towing a trailer in lane 3 doing at least 90mph. So what really grinds my gears, is out of all the vehicles on the carriageway at the time he felt that the motorcycle was the problem, I don't get it. Confused

Something like this happened to my mate, he was behind two cars, overtook the first and Audi in front then flashed the blues and a quick few seconds of sirens.

Basically I think just saying slow down without wanting to bollock and give you points.

Yeah I've had that on the m4, an undercover car just give me the blues and twos for a second or two then carried on.

It's just a 'calm down lad' sorta thing.

Well okay I can understand what you're saying chaps but if there's one thing I detest it's injustice. Why out of all the vehicles on the motorway at that time did he feel the need to "warn" me. I appreciate his concern and all but why didn't he "warn" others faster than me, was he bored or does he just not like bikes, I mean it can't be "...because I is black" surely?

No but if you crash a motorbike at 100mph,
the likely outcome is to be worse dont you agree?

Not at all - unless you're thrown out of the car then you're trapped inside a metal box that will be crushed beyond recognition in an impact at that speed. On a bike you'll go flying but as long as you don't hit something you stand a chance of being OK.

On a busy motorway skidding down the road at 100mph?
chances are pretty small of not either getting ran over or hitting something, people get hit when there in cars sitting on the hard shoulder.

Or thats my opinion Wink

My luck would be " doing a ton crash into a metal box and have to be cut out Rolling Eyes "

See ya point though. I once had muppets over taken each other crossing lanes ect, so i give a bit trottle to get clear, and hey presto 4 points appeared. 3 on the licence and 1 on me chest patronising Tw*t he was

i can't beleive you are having a whinge about being let off for doing 100mph, get a grip, count yourself lucky, big deal they didnt warn the other cars.. but down the road they may have pulled them over.

A fair point mate, and I must admit my head really wasn't where it should have been yesterday hence my indignation. If I'd been thinking straight I'd have taken it in my stride as I ordinarily do, but I just thought it was a unusual thing to happen.

Actually no.

In a car you will go from 100 to zero very fast when it hits anything solid.
On a bike you get thrown off and the deceleration, unless you hit anything else is much less.
Its stopping fast that kills you, not sliding down the road.

Look at all the crashes on tracks and how they get up and walk away, that is unless they hit something.
