Hi all,

well, I changed my brake pads and fluid last month before my track session on the24th. They were brilliant on track and have been for a while. But they have slowly been getting more and more "spongy". I done a few stoppies the other day. Could the problem be from this? It feels like there is some air in the system. I will re bleed the brakes again on friday and rebuild the calipers. what do you guys think it is?

Thanks in advance for replies Thumbs Up

If your rebuilding you calipers it will be worth you doing the master cylinder at the same time, at least that way you will know everything is good,

are your disc and caliper in good nick? no warpage on the disc or play on the caliper slides, does the brake get better if you pump it?

yeah everything is in good nick. Am i right in saying that if i increase my master cylinders size that it increases braking efficiency?

It will move the pistons further for a given amount of lever travel although you'll need to pull it harder to achieve the same braking force.

ok, so if i decrease the master cylinder size then i will have to pull the lever further but have a better braking force with less effort? Thumbs Up Karma given

Just remember less fluid will mean more heat build up in the fluid. And a greater possibility of brake fade.

If you've done a track day there's a very good chance some air has come out of solution and formed a little air bubble in your carefully bled caliper - just bleed a bit off the top, should be fine again.
