Anyone going to this? Done anything similar? How much experience would I need, does the type of bike I have matter (sport)?
As it's going to be snowy, are road tyres ok?
Cheers for any info! ____________________ Currently Riding - 2002 Aprilia RSV1000 Mille |

It's midsummer so chances of snow are extremely remote. The 24h daylight will take care of that. Mind you, I have gone skiing in July in Lapland, but that was inland, you'll be following the coast, so it'll be warmer. The daytime temperature can vary from 15C to 25C, depending on the sun. The nights can still be chilly in the Finnmark region (close to zero), so take a winter sleeping bag and thermals.
Also take an eyemask, as otherwise, you will not sleep for the duration, it really is bright as day at 2am.
If you do go, be prepared to be amazed at the scenery, you'll not find such beauty anywhere else. It's going from one stunning view to another. I love the place, and I'm not even Norwegian! ____________________ My other bike's a Monster... |

I've always found colder places more interesting and beautiful than the warmer places, and am seriously considering this. Have only been riding a year, but have done a fair few miles, and am comfortable doing long distances on the bike, was just worried that the roads might be snowy/icy which I wouldn't be so good on!
Have you done any riding in Norway? ____________________ Currently Riding - 2002 Aprilia RSV1000 Mille |

No, all my visits to Norway have been in a car. The roads are in a very good condition, so it'd be interesting to do it on a bike. You'll have the morning mist on the roads, so they'll be damp but it'll soon dry in the sun.
Damn, now I wish I was going... ____________________ My other bike's a Monster... |

Right, just doing some research on the ferry, and it looks like no-one is sailing from Newcastle to Kristiansand anymore, which is a bit annoying, plus when I try and book another ferry to stavanger it's quoting me about £500, which is a bit of a joke...
Anyone know any cheap places? I'm not bothered about having a room to stay in, the floor/any old chair will do me ____________________ Currently Riding - 2002 Aprilia RSV1000 Mille |
