Same junction where I had my accident in October, it's evil I tells ya, evil!

Lights had just changed to amber, so I slowed down and stopped in lane 2 of 4. I'd been there a good 5 seconds when a BMW Mini (a Bini as my brother-in-law calls them) that I'd overtaken at the previous lights, came through in lane 3 on my right-hand side and shot the red light. The traffic whose priority it now was, (turning right across our direction of travel) was already moving. A young chap on a moped had filtered to the front and the mini hit him. It was another of those "oh no" moments, you know when you can see it coming but know you can do nothing to stop it.

She hit him pretty hard T-boning the 'ped, luckily he wasn't struck by the car but he sure did fly, landing next to the curb alongside lane 1. I knocked the bike out of gear, stuck my hazards on and ran over to see if he was okay, I say ran but realistically I had to stop cars coming across the carriageway just to get to him. I realise people are late for work, but having witnessed it they felt it alright to keep on driving, some people have no "soul". Anyway he got up and I helped him to the reservation, he took his helmet off and was pretty spaced out, I got a car driver who had, had to stop because of the commotion to call an ambulance.

The car driver, said she "didn't see him" I pointed out she'd obviously not seen the red light or queuing traffic either! Well we cleared the carriageway and once the first response paramedic arrived I left him in safe hands, after leaving my details for a witness statement with him.

Poor kid he was 17 tops and was really shook up, I was pleased to see he'd invested in gloves so only his knee and elbow appeared bruised, but you never know. As I carried on to the M5 I passed the police patrol car going the other way a full 20 minutes after the initial accident, a speedy response.

Incidentally yesterday morning a car hit a deer in lane 3 of the M5 killing it and knocking it into the central reservation, causing a bit of a todo, I wonder what tomorrow holds... Thinking
