Im now in a possition where i need to find myself my first full time job, my CV is alright, not a huge amount on it but at 17 i havent exactly done much in my life Laughing

Anyways my current boss has advised that i put a cover note on my CV but i really have no idea what-so-ever what to put on it...

Is it really neccesary?
If so can somebody write me out a few points that i should cover on the cover note please.

karma will be given Karma Thumbs Up

The advice I have been given is to make sure that you have something specific. ie some definite reasons as to why you are applying for that particular job. It just looks a hell of a lot better than a generic C.V. to a prospective employer.

I'm not that good at applying for jobs though, I tend to get frustrated, bored and sarcastic after more than 10minutes of filling in forms, which is less than ideal. Although somehow it did get me though two rounds of Toyota selection Shocked

It's pretty much about being in the right place at the right time, you just have to help the odds of being there.

Hi c_dug

Kinda know what you mean but there is a point to cover letters, the employer needs to see your human after all.

You could try something along to lines of...

Dear 'Employers name here'

I would like to be considered for a position within your company. I am bright, enthusiastic and willing to learn. I have had 'insert past experiences here' . My hobbies are 'insert hobbies here' (try and keep it relevant to the job your applying for) I am available for work between the hours of 'insert here' (as many hours as you can always looks good) Please see my C.V for all other information.

Yours Sincerely

c-dug

A cover note to a CV, should just be along the lines of

Your address (should be right aligned or centred within the header )

Their address

Date

Dear XXX

Re: JOB TITLE

I am interested in applying for JOB TITLE and I have enclosed my CV for your attention. I would appreciate an opportunity to work for your company, and hope that I am given the opportunity of an interview for the vacancy of JOB TITLE.

I believe I have the skills required/ability to learn the skills for the vacancy, and would appreciate the chance given to me if I were to be successful.

Yours sincerely
