Don't know? I never open anything I don't know who it originated from as you never know whats in them. My Yahoo acc has 540 spam messages in it at the moment and some are simmilar to the above I can see from the preview pane.

Big article explaining it well here.

Basically it's to fool the spam filter on the email servers it travels through that the source is a legitimate one.

Have to look at my spam as my legit emails from friends end up there.

But if they got through spam filter what was the point in that when there was no spam in it? just useless crap. I really want to answer with a story but my dad says they will know that you are active and spam you more.

edit: Also how do I get spam from my own email address? I got viagra spam sent from me apparently Shocked

Anyone can send a message with anything in the "from:" headers..
if you look at the full headers, you'll see it didn't come from you.
