Hi

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2008/03/25/ncosts125.xml

Seems that the cost of motoring has increased by 56% since labour came to power (not including the extra amount added in VED in the last budget).

Bike running costs are likely to have gone up by a similar amount.

All the best

Keith

I find this sort of thing a bit like people telling me about the weather.

"Rain tomorow"

And what exactly can i do about that?

And don't mention voting, i doubt very much labour have that much control over our motoring anyway. Rolling Eyes

Much of that increase is down to them with large increases in fuel duty and VED over the years, plus stricter (and way more expensive) MOTs resulting in shorter vehicle lives (so more depreciation).

Whether the tories would be any better is another question.

All the best

Naturally, over the same period HM Government's inflation figures inform us that the cost of living has only risen by about 2%!

It does me proud to see you reading the Telegraph Keith - my warm respect for your vast intellect has been validated!

It's about time the Inland Revenue increased the tax-free threshold for business mileage expense claims.

It's been 40p/mile for the first 10k miles for as long as I can remember.
