2 questions:

How do the Europeans consider race cans? , as I recall Maurice's wing man being stopped for too loud an exhaust in one of his write ups , my CBR currently wears a Scorpion race can with a viper baffle which does nothing to dampen the decibels , I might need to get a newer baffle to reduce the noise a fair bit (the std can won;t fit anymore due to the full SS system).

Are those hydration pack thingies mountain bikers any good for use on motorbikes or do they have the same flaws as back packs on motorbikes? , I found I had to stop very regularly to drink south of France Spain will be ALOT hotter and drier I think this will reduce the need to stop a fair bit.

Thanks.

The Swiss definitely don't like race cans, the French don't give a toss though. I walked into a dealer in Gap to borrow a C-spanner once, I couldn't see a new bike that didn't have an aftermarket exhaust.

The Spain thing was probably my fault as I pulled out of a junction with about 10k in the engine (none baffled race can), within earshot of a traffic copper.

I've got a hydration pack for mountain biking but wouldn't use it on the motorcycle, or even a road bicycle. Your back gets too hot with it on.

Sounds like a pretty good idea. The bite valve on my North Face bladder has a magnetic latch thing, you could let it stick to something metal on the bike if you wanted to stop it flapping around.

If you want to drink it might be a good time to take a 5 min rest.
I take a metal waterbottle in my panniers so have a drink when I refuel or am thirsty, stop for a few minutes.
I don't like things on my back better to travel as light as possible.

I know this but its a need for progress , if you read maurice's spanish adventure he stopped virtually every town,

Down France at nice I had to stop every 15 minutes to take a drink of water, and this was when it was 35c it'll be hotter in Spain and I have time constraints probably why it took me nigh 4 days to ride 1300 miles
