Puddle of petrol

So, having a sort of day off and it not being to cold I decided to tackle - Changing the Spark Plugs on my ER5. Never done anything like it before. Warmed up by changing oil (second time, managed to not get it all over the garage floor this time), replacing horn and checking air filter. So disconnect tap, tank off, mucho pissing about. Sorted!

Put it all back together. Tried to start her up no joy but petrol pissing out the back of .......... the SWING ARM !!!?????????? wtf? Bike looks like a dog pissing petrol against my tool box.

After an hour of shitting myself, losing it and nearly weeping with frustration I realised I had connected the filler cap overflow pipe (which had come off when I lifted tank off) to the fuel tap outlet. Sigh. Put it all back together AGAIN. Rode round Bristol just for the crack, engine likes new oil and plugs. Another "learning oppourtunity" / milestone passed. Bikes eh?

Just make sure you remember it and learn from it. That's the best way to get better at fixing bikes. I fitted the water pump seal to my MBX125 three times, I broke the first two

Aye, it took me six goes, three sets of circlips and much screaming and shouting before I worked out a method of getting my CBR's carbs back on the engine.

However I did feel like a total king when it was done, much prancing round the garage didst I do.
