i thought the CBT was where you go along to a car park, do some manuvers and then they may ask you a few questions, and then you go onto the road and ride about for a bit. but wherever i look on the internet it says that you have to pass a theory test and then the practical which one is it??????

The first one. Other than having provisional motorcycle entitlement, the CBT is the first step you have to make, then theory, then test.

ooooooo so if i took CBT at 16, then when im 17 i would do the theory??

You do the theory to allow you to take either the A2 license (33bhp max) of the DAS (full power from the off)

Sequence is:
16 you can ride a 49cc bike/moped with top speed of 31mph, (for this you need a CBT)

17 you can ride a 125 with a power output of no more than 14.9BHP (for this you need a CBT)

17 - 21 you can take your A2 test which allows you to ride any bike as long as it is restricted to 33BHP (for this you need a CBT, the Theory Test and to pass the A2 practical test)

21+ you can take the DAS test which is the same as A2, but there are no restrictions (again you need a CBT, the Theory Test and to pass the DAS practical test)



The A2 test is done on a 125cc bike, usually a CG125 or YBR125

The DAS needs to be done on a bike that produces more than 46.6BHP, usually they use a 500cc commuter, GS500, CB500 etc etc


The DAS and the A2 tests are exactly the same, only difference being the bike used to take the test on

Yeah
You would be restricted for 2 years.

The two tests are the same price, and the training for them usually is the same as well, so unless you are really struggling with then bigger bike there is no practical reason to take the A2 if you are over 21
