I've been looking about to get insurance for an SV650S to see how much it would cost if I wanted to insure it after passing my test.

The quotes for 0 NCB no claims or convictions etc (I'm 17 BTW)

Fully Comp - £1,600
TPFT - £1,000

Both policies include the following: Legal cover, Breakdown (inc Homestart), Personal Accident, £250.00 (however policy has excess thing where it covers it so you dont have to pay any excess in a fault or non fault claim, realistically it is £0 excess), Key Protection, Helmet and leathers (upto £750) and ride in europe kept in garage overnight

I didnt think the FC price was that bad because of me only being 17.

Suggestions please Smile

not very good quote. I live in a bad area code, and i used to get quotes of around 400-500 quid. I currently pay £180 for cb500 with only 1 years claims 19 yo. TPFT. Try confused dot com. fair good at getting decent quotes.

Also ring up whoever you decide to insure with and just plain lie, Tell them another insurer has offered you the same policy 200 quid cheaper, can they match it, you should at least get them to drop 100 quid if not try and better your "ficticious" quote... Result either way...

Yes and part-time job declared too

I'm still not sure I mean my quote for my CBR was £600 so its only an extra £400 which wont be much difference if I pay it monthly but that its going to stop me ringing about tomorrow.

I've got three bikes in mind and might go and have a look at the one more local to me tomorrow to see if its right for me

Which one would you go for out of these:
53' SV650S K3 (silver) 20k on the clock with 3 month warranty full lower fairing (not sure on service history) £2,700

04' SV650S (blue) 5k on the clock no mention of service history and half faired £3,000

53' SV650S (silver) 9k crash bobbins FSH one owner half faired £3,000

If you can think of any others that restrict well and should come in at under £3k let me know Thumbs Up

I am drawn to the £2,600 one that comes with all the fairing on, I know it will cost if it is dropped etc but it does look very nice in silver and I can fit some crash protectors as well, i've heard that the service history doesn't matter too much on the SV as they are quite reliable and hard to break

Karma for advice Very Happy
