Another 'What should I get' thread!

Well there's plenty of threads around on 'what bike to get next' and so on, but I find it difficult to relate these to my situation.


I have a 54 reg XR125 in excellent condition with the obvious wear and tear from 12k of daily commuting. Only additional extra is the digital Oxford heated grips, otherwise all other parts are standard as original. It's never been dropped and is only wanting a rear tyre soon - and that can be done for £40ish.
I've got my A2 test in a couple of weeks and am considering upgrading to a 33bhp bike, wether it be slightly under or restricted I don't mind. Unfortunately I have no spare cash so it'd have to be a swap and I reckon my bike is worth about £1k or thereabouts.

Main rules are - it must be reliable to commute on, reasonably cheap for parts/insurance and I hate sports bikes! The SV650 (not s) is about as sporty as I'd go. I prefer naked bikes, trailies, muscle bikes - whatever you wanna call them.

So any ideas what I should go for?
