hey,
lookin for a small bit of advice on wot may need to be done to my bike.nsr125r,2003,hasnt been serviced in a while now,and engine is getting noisier,plus not getting power up fast enough on acceleration.eventually power kicks in.is this worn piston rings possibly??or is it something more.exaust looks ok also

Service the bike first and maybe decoke the exhaust as a starting point. A fresh plug can make a difference.

If that doesnt help then start to think piston rings although I would expect a drop in power across the range, not just low revs. You could ask a garage to do a compression test.

Compression check might be an idea.

However the time and labour spent getting that done is akin to whipping the head off and changing the rings anyway, so you might just want to do it if you can't remember when it was last rebuilt.

Also take the carb apart and clean the jets. If it's struggling to rev up off idle then the pilot jet could be blocked.

Check/change the sparky as well.
