So I've had the K1200R for over 2 years now and I'm bored of it.

I'm thinking of trading it in for something much cheaper but that still has un upright (ish) seating postion.

Ideas so far:
SV1000
VTR1000 Firestorm bit fugly and short tank range
YZF600/1000 getting old now

It is tempting to get an R1 or something like that as they are dirt cheap nowadays, but the seating postion combined with the reviness (combined with my lack of will power) would most probably lead to a loss of license!

Any other suggestions?

Keith, Fazer 1000 is a possibility

G, a streetfighter is a good idea in theory, but 99% of the time they look shit.

I've never really been a fan of the speed triple and they aren’t very cheap either. the rest are the wrong type of bike (except vstorm

Ducati Hypermotard.

Its tarty and its different, also has a reliable torquey 1100cc V-twin motor.

Tuono = fugly

Z1000, not a bad bike, but not many good deals about though.

Keith, this bike has a new role, have fun commuting to work but don't loose license and also for pissing about on local roads (I'll be fitting a scot oiler to get round having to oil the chain)

For a possibly cheaper faired Fazer like bike, how about the faired version of the last Z750. They seem to go pretty cheaply.

All the best

When I was looking for my blade, I almost bought a streetfightered R1 on ebay. It was pretty cheap, and would have been fun. I suspect it would have had performance on a par with the K1200, and probably would be better at corners. The main reason I didn't go for it is that the 98 R1s are a little bit tall for me (that and I didn't have the money at the time!).

I think a 'storm will probably be a good bet too, either that or something like a Multistrada or the new shape Triumph Tiger.

According to RiDE mag, they have the worst suspension ever. And that mag isn't even particularly demanding!

I'd rather have a Z1000 over a 750.

I rode an 05 Fazer and the suspention was pretty awful.

Remember the Multistrada and the Hypermotard use the same Air cooled 1100cc motor.
Hypermotard FTW.

Cheers, but when ragging it the fuel economy will actually be better than the K1200R! Laughing
