like the title says, im after a new bike.
my experience with superbikes hasnt left me with the best opinion of them. they're too expensive for someone on my meager income to run effectively.

heres a pic of what i have to offer.
https://img501.imageshack.us/img501/8008/12042008023uy6.jpg

i recently had a low speed crash, and its 90% repaired, it was not registered on insurance and the bike is HPI clear.
theres a post on my accident, and the new stuff that was bought. all problems are now rectified that are mentioned.

as well as this, i have a manual cam chain tensioner fitted (a post on this also regarding some useless mechanic) ended up costing a bomb.

the bike has MOT until november 2008, tax till around january 2009.

all it needs to pass an MOT next time is new forks (about £60) and maybe a rear tyre (ebay buy it now with a rim is £55)

it rides fine, engine starts without choke etc. ''runs like a dream'' ''never misses a beat'' and all that other crap that people write to try and sell their bike.

its 33bhp too, got certificates (at a cost of £200 Sad) so you can ride it fully legally on an A2 licence, or derestrict it in 20 minutes and ride on DAS.

this bike also has full service history.

also inclded is:

>ART twin outlet race can (got a receipt, some sucker paid £300 for it!)

>Practically a full spare set of fairings that are intact and uncracked, some have the stickers removed though, so ideal for respray.

>Spare headlight wiring loom for a 1999 bike... i stupidly bought this, but it doesnt bleddy fit!

>Spare set of clocks... KM/H, shows genuine mileage of about 36000km when i bought a set of MPH clocks that had 21000 miles on them... basically, the mileage on the MPH clocks is genuine give or take 1000 miles. pretty rare for a KMH-MPH conversion.

i reckon the bike is worth around £1600-2000 if you spend about £200 on the thing.

anyone interested in a swap? ill consider anything. i know its a bit rough, but its a very easy fix bike.

only reason im posting here rather than the market section is so people can reply.

[email protected] or PM

more pics on request

cheers queers xxx

forgot to mention i also have a single seat pod and a pillion grab rail included

ive got a video of it running which im currently uploading... im not wringing it in the video as the oil temp is only at about 45 degrees.
it does rev freely and pull without any unexpected flatspots throughout the rev range.

Its a bit cosmetically tatty, But mechanically its sound.

I wouldent mind a sports 600, but im only after something thats very reliable as i have even less money than you (i can say that confidantly without knowing how much you have...)

the only time the SRAD has ever let me down is when the mechanic fried my battery with a jumper pack... the battery in it now is about a month old.
needs choke only on cold days. on the coldest of days you get a bit of carb icing, but other than that, nothing can fault it running wise afaik.

got any info on it? like mileage? year etc? do you have the stock headlight and a speedo perhaps? the main reason for me wanting a change is something i can wheelie a bit without worry, but my speed perception is diabolical.

EDIT:
heres the vid

No stock headlight, and being honest these ones are dire, they illuminate nothing. There is a little speedo tucked in behind the headlight (No rev counter).

The actual mileage of the engine is something like 24-26k now, the clocks on this speedo read just under 20k the last time i checked....

Its a 98 Hornet, was originally yellow, and wrecked, a mechanic friend of mine re-built pretty much everything from scratch, I saw it when it was just a frame and some wheels.

The engine casing has some scrapes from a minor slide coming off a roundabout, not cracked or leaking though.

Starts on the button with full choke (although a new battery wouldent go amiss).

It will wheelie nicely with the standard gearing and the renthal bars but i never do that as i am too poor to afford new C+S/Head bearings often. I do thrash it when it is warm, But i also check the coolant/oil before nearly every ride and lube the chain at least once a week.

Just putting the idea out there TBH, it is a reliable bike and as much as i would like a sports 6, it is my only transport for the time being... So dont get your hopes up and anyone else who is thinking of offering another bike please do...

well, the swap im offering is a ride, meet halfway, exchange documents after test ride, ride home. the bike is registered to my home address, so no worries there as to being without a vehicle.

in all honesty i think ill have to pass on the offer, thanks.
it sounds like its seen a fair bit of abuse, and my only transport is my bike.
i may change my mind, so im not fully dismissing it,
cheers

Fair enough mate, Yours doesent sound like its had the kind of life Jon B would give a bike either Razz, I guess i know this bikes history and what needs doing so its a known factor i think i would rather stick with that too Thumbs Up

Goodluck, its a pretty interesting offer, Might be an idea to list the kind of bikes you would consider for anyone else who is reading this thread...

yeah, its hardly a pristiner... but hey, nothing the age of our bikes really is Very Happy

ill consider any offers really... preferably up to 600, as a 750+ would be a bit nasty on the insurance front.

preferably a 4 cylinder, with rockers ideally, as shims scare me.

maybe an earlier GSXR750 streetfighter and some cash? much simpler engines i can do myself, plus classic insurance.

im also pretty keen on supermotos at the moment, a DRZ400 maybe? KTM620/690/450

i would say a bandit, but i dont like them... when thedon said hornet my ears pricked up Very Happy so ill go for hornets too. the only thing that put me off was the ''it needs full choke to start''... im after something with matching engine reliability, i know its being really picky.

how does your hornet start on the button without choke on an average day?

My hornet's the same mate! although I've had it only a couple of days I've hit the nail on the head with how to start it.... and that is full choke - and a little blip of the throttle.

Within 10 seconds or something of full choke you can turn it off and ride away, without it being sloppy. Amazing.

I just keep it under 3k rpm until it gets warm.
