That quality is going to suck arse for that kind of money. If it's just for a visual deterrent, then get a cheap, fake one that has a lit led.

I can't imagine anything being more frustrating than having one of those units, your bike being nicked and then not being able to identify the people behind the 10 blocky pixels on the video. Thumbs Down Could be wrong....but it's Aldi.

as crap as it is, for £30 and the time it would take to put up , when putting a fake one up that still costs a bit to not make it look too fake, and a wire, to make it look like its connected, you just aswell put that one up that will at least record the theft

i would be less frustrated at that, than the bike getting nicked under the full gaze of a fake camer and not having anything !

I thought about this for under the block of flats where I live.

I have a couple of mini cameras, one wireless the other wired. The quality is ok if your close up but it goes a bit grainy beyond 10 or 15ft.

If you are going to put a camera up, in order for it to be admissable in court you also need to put signs up saying that CCTV equipment is in use and who operates it.

If you're worried about it getting nicked (or just destroyed.) Put a fake one up where it can be seen and position a hidden one somewhere else.

Thumbs Up

At least when u wake up in the night, and look out your window and find someone stealing your bike, you can get the cheap aldi camera and go batter the fuckers with it Laughing

Only use i can think for it, although the teeefs might not be that bothered about how good the video quality is afterall.

i have been looking to get a cheap cctv camera for quite a while now, only thing is - i dont want to have to connect it to my computerand leave it on all the time, or even just a night when everyone is asleep and recording to viedo, which runs out quick isjustawaste of time too. the ones which record tolarge SD cards andhave motion sensors are better. at the moemnt my bike lives in a garage with anelectricdoor.so such camera is perfexctformeas it can be placed inside the garage and would be activated by the dooropening,also- this doesn't draw any attention to the bike as it is inside the garage, and by then it is too late. also, i would be able toplace any signs INSIDE the garage so still noone would reallyknow.so if youare putting CCTV tomonitor your garaged/sheded bike - putthe camera inside, also has to cover less rage then too

If its in your garage, then most garages arnt much higher than about 6 foot,
so any camera mounted on wall is going to be ripped off easy and if its sd one uve just lost all your footage :S
lol

I got a proper cctv system from Ebay.

2nd hand analogue time lapse VCR which records a time/date stamp, then brand new 12vdc B&W auto-iris, low lux camera and one of those 5.5" mini TV's for monitoring.

For the best night time picture, a black and white camera is best. Street lights are a monochromatic yellow and a monochromatic B&W camera makes use of the light very well.

I have signs in both cars and one in the mount for the tank bag.

I've used it in one proper case and several times for surveillance purposes. The camera is in my bedroom window.

Since the word has spread, there's been little crime in the view of the camera for over 3 years now.

Total cost was around £175. I'm looking at upgrading to DVR HDD as the VCR is nearing 20000 hours of use now.
