Any bike will be reliable if looked after.

And I highly doubt an nc30 for 1000 is gonna be reliable.

ZZR600

I picked mine up last May with a full years MOT and 6 months tax for £750.

Have been offered double that since.

You'll be lucky for £1000. It'll be a 1988 one, and won't be all that reliable.

I'd say something like a tatty Bandit or SV650 would be a plan.

Any sportsbike for around £1000 isn't going to be all that. You'll be taking pot luck with reliability I think.

Cb400, bandit, sv, gs500, fazer if you can grab one for a grand. Gpz's come rated too.

From reading on here and other websites and reviews I established that a 'boring commutery bike' is a boring commutery bike because they are generally simpler, less stuff to worry about and they wouldn't be commutery bikes if they weren't reliable enough. Semi faired or naked 400/600s seem to be alright. Sports 400's I wouldn't think so. The term for them I think varies between shagged and ragged, but it means the same.
