Ok, as you might know I trashed the ZZR in January with it sliding off down the road in a trail of sparks and I ended up getting the "Barry Sheene" leg furniture which will be with me for ever now.
What do I do? I want to get back on the bike but the options are limited. I'll not be needing to commute on it (until the first time I get stuck in traffic no doubt) and whilst I liked the ZZR-600, I feel a bit funny about sticking her back together and riding her again as it just "won't be the same"...
I'll probably have £2500 plus the remains of the ZZR to spend and want to get something 600+, sports tourer/general all rounder that will be comfy for me and Mrs. K. as pillion, full faired for preference (though I'm contemplating a big naked bike) with plenty of go and has a good deal of "Hoonability" for when the mood takes me. The ZZR was great for that, didn't look like much but went like stink...
Should I trade the ZZR on as spares or do a repair job on it? That'll probably be new plastics, screen, brake reservoir, forks and a weld on the exhaust for the repair or should I not bother? Without getting someone out to give the bike a good look over from a garage (know of anyone who would come out in the Oxford/Bicester/Aylesbury area?) I can only guess at how extensive the damage is, but it's looking like £750 min, I can't begin to budget for the repair.
The other option is take cash+wreck and finance a new set of wheels. I'd rather not do that and to be honest I'd probably end up with a new Ninja or somesuch, great for me but useless two up.
Any thoughts?
Ta,

Probably just me but I wouldn't want to ride a bike I'd had a bad crash on.
Personally I'd sell the wreck, gather all my cash together & go shopping.
Do you have any limitations because of the leg furniture re riding position and stuff? ____________________ Sod falling in love, I wanna fall in chocolate. |

The leg seems to be ok (I can boot myself up the arse with it so I've full range of movement ) so no issues there. I was on a self defence course yesterday and I'm getting back to Aikido as well so the leg's doin' ok.
I saw a Zx9 for about 3 grand (now sold) over at on yer bike and I was very tempted...
