Not sure if it will do any good, but a new petition has been drawn up to get the introduction of the new motorcycle test postponed until all the new test super centres are operational. Might be of interest to those who are looking to take their test late in the year.

I'll sign it, but I don't think it will do any good.

Its like asking the Government to not implement last years budget - the wheels are already turning etc etc.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Don't really see the point in postponing it. It has to start on the 29th september or there will be big fines to pay which inevitably will come from bikers pockets some way or another.

Like Marjay said, I signed it too for all the good it'll do.

I wonder if any petition put up has actually affected any decision made by the government?

I suspect not.

Thumbs Up

If it gets more of the test centres up and running, then it can't be a bad thing.

Why the fines? Is the EU going to levy them?

Pretty much, Both the government and the DSA will be facing hefty fines from the EU if the new test isn't up and running on the 29th of Sep regardless of how many stations are open or not.

I notice the riding school where I did my CBT/DAS has put his business up for sale. I can't help wondering if the new test has anything to do with it. I'm sure his yard isn't big enough for teaching that part 1, off-road bollocks.

I've signed it, although i plan on being fully qualified long before the curfew, what good it will do i don't know.

Does anyone know if any of the petitions from that site even got a second look?

Im sure ive heard of at least one of these petitions working. Ive signed a few before. One was about a 1st world war soldier getting a pardon for cowardice (i.e shellshock) and one about a woman who was accused of being a witch' family looking for a pardon for her.

Signed, I suspect that even if there is an overwhelming opinion contary to the Governments intentions that nothing will be changed.

If these things were actually paid attention to they would be a fantastic tool for Democracy, as it is I think they are just a sop to stop people whining that they aren't listened to...
